THE APS STORY

The APS Foundation is unlike any other organization that promotes education. In today’s world it will not be enough that our youth graduate from high school. Globalization has resulted in the establishment of increasingly sophisticated educational systems. APS exists for the sole purpose of providing students from ordinary backgrounds an extraordinary opportunity to access those sophisticated centers of knowledge.

Founded upon the inspirational life of Andy Paul Sanchez, APS extends a helping hand to students who have become used to failing in traditional educational environments. As an exceptional athlete and equally exceptional teacher, Andy was dedicated to helping the less fortunate gain confidence and self esteem. Andy realized that money often stood in way and devoted long hours to raising the funds that meant the difference between success and failure.

Andy’s untimely death gave birth to APS. Today it is dedicated to identifying worthy underprivileged student-athletes and assisting them with grants of money to pay for a college education. Andy literally walked the streets of South San Diego to find students who had given up on themselves. APS walks links of local golf courses to raise the money necessary to fund those grants.

No human life is useless; everyone deserves a chance to succeed, regardless of their race, culture, or personal circumstances. ………….

MEET APS

APS is a family affair. The son and two daughters of Andy Paul Sanchez, each a graduate of San Diego State University, or about to become a graduate, have committed their time and energy to continuing the essential work for the underprivileged begun by their father.

Andy, Jr., Kimberley, and Alexcie are members of the Board. While other legal, teaching, and business professionals are also members, it is Andy’s adult children who continue to provide the same inspiration that their father provided to the student-athletes destined to become essential fathers, mothers, students, business owners, and employees who continue to give of themselves that this country may continue to be great.
